Info

My name is Jussi Juntunen. I was born in Suomussalmi Finland, but now I am living in Oulu. This is my personal home page and it contains my blog (sorry, only in finnish), some general info, my portfolio and my cv.

At the moment, I work as User Researcher at Nokia, Services business unit. My job involves usability evaluations, usability testing and end user studies. I have been working for Nokia for four years, due to my studies, most of the time as a part-time trainee.

I graduated at 2008 from the University of Oulu with a MSc degree in information processing science. I studied everything I just considered interesting and gathered credits from information systems design, usability, user interface design, digital media, web technologies, web information systems, programming and futures studies. My master's thesis was about moderating online communities.

My hobbies are very much related to music. I play guitar and make songs for my band Dian and also record and mix some other bands' recordings. Also live music is close to my heart and I enjoy watching live shows regardless of bands' sizes or genres. Almost anything goes, from jazz, funk and rock to underground hardcore punk or black metal. We are also arranging small-sized live music clubs with my friend at a local bar 45 Special. Our aim is to offer an opportunity for smaller local bands to get to play live. Rewarding job, I'd say.

I published my first web pages probably at '95 on our school's servers. Since then, I have been really into web design and web programming. During the last couple of years I have been busy with developing my own content management system, mainly targeted for bands. Also this page runs with the same system.

As my most recent interest, I have been exploring the amazing world of film photography. Instead of buying complex high-end stuff, I bought an ancient Lomo LC-A (80' model, made in USSR) from Ebay and to be honest, it has really knocked me out with it's (somewhat unpredictable) results. After all these lifeless-smooth, digi-clean giga-pixel achievements I really enjoy LC-A's mixture of quite harsh vignetting and vintage-warm general vibe. Also variety of different films resulting totally different grains, tones and feelings is one really interesting issue to get familiar with. I am just starting to get along with my Lomo, but countless rolls of film has to be shot to get familiar with different lightning conditions and films. Jesus it's fun. Some of my shots can be seen in my Flickr.
